MotorFun     2010

Sunday 6th June 2010. 12 noon to 5p.m.

Cooper Park, Elgin

This will be the fourth biennial Elgin Rotary Motorfun and as in previous years it will be a transport-themed day with all ages and types of motor vehicles and motorcycles on display. So far 11 car dealerships have indicated their intention to display new cars. The vintage cars will meet at Glen Moray Distillery, drive to Johnstons of Elgin before arriving in the Cooper Park.

There will be stalls, competitions and entertainments to suit all ages, all with the aim of raising funds for local charities.

New attractions will include a Food Fest with exhibitors and demonstrations in a marquee in the Cooper Park.

On the Saturday before Motorfun Sunday there will be a sponsored walk for primary school children and families round the Cooper Park starting at 2pm in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

On the Saturday evening before the big day, Music in the Park with Cantare and friends will be held in the marquee which will seat up to 500 people. Proceeds will go to MacMillan Cancer Support. Tickets will be on sale from Cathedral Windows in the High Street.

'It's a Knockout' will expand to 10 teams to meet the demand for places and new games will be introduced. Click here to download an entry form. We have already received entries so be quick as places are limited and will be accepted as they come in.

'Pirates on the Pond' will involve contestants complete with Pirate Outfits and Waterpistols racing round the Cooper Park Pond. Please phone Mike Carter on 07899 862633 for further information.

Arrangements are well underway for the day.  Old favourites including Junior Football, Junior Tennis, Junior Cricket, Its a Knockout and Fun on the Pond will be there and new attractions are planned.

Booked so far are Grampian Police Dogs, Drakes of Hazard, Sheep Shearing, Chainsaw Carving, North East Fire Heritage Trust and others.

We are sure that you will enjoy your Motorfun day.

Stall Holder Invitation

MotorFun, as in previous years, will be a family fun day in Cooper Park, organised by Elgin Rotary Club and starting at 12 noon and closing at 5pm.   We hope to have one or two major attractions for the day which should help to bring in the crowds, however, there will be a lot going on as usual – see above for some of the attractions booked so far.

Elgin Rotary Club sees MotorFun as an opportunity for the community to come together in a day of family fun.   In 2006 and 2008 almost 10,000 people filled the Park, exceeding our wildest dreams and enabled charities to raise funds and their profile.   We know that 2010 will be even bigger and better.

We hope to have the Farmers Market stalls again and we will erect and place these on the pitches.   We can guarantee a pitch but the limited number of market stalls will be allocated on a first come (i.e. Booked & PAID), first served basis.   Each pitch with stall will cost £30.

Charities may use their own stalls, tents or gazebos etc, and won’t need a stall.

Please help us to plan Motorfun by replying as soon as possible using the Booking Form and full payment of £30 per stall on or before 31st March 2010.

Revisit this page over the next six months to keep up to date with progress in the planning of this major event.
